Nikolaus von Verschuer has a broad international experience in a number of legal subjects. His main focus is M&A, company law, commercial and contractual law as well as legal aspects concerning private foundations.
Nikolaus studied law at the Georg-August-University of Göttingen and was admitted to the Bar in 1978. He worked in the UK at Clifford-Turner (now Clifford Chance), then moved to South-Africa as head of the legal department of the German South-African Chamber of Trade and Industry. He joined Hoechst AG as in-house lawyer in 1981 where he also worked for a subsidiary in the US. He then became in 1989 Chief Legal Officer and Managing Director of Alcan Deutschland GmbH. In 2000 he was promoted to Vice President Legal of Alcan in Europe.
Before joining HPL Plewka & Coll. LLP he worked as Senior European Consultant at Bird & Bird and before it as Legal and Managing Director of Novelis Deutschland GmbH, a spin off company from Alcan.
Nikolaus is Board Member of the well-known Union International Club with its 500 members coming from the senior managerial level of Frankfurt’s economy. Moreover he is member of the Frankfurt’s Association of Business, Industry and Science, member of the Rotary Club Frankfurt on the Main Friedensbrücke, Chairman of the Baron von Verschuer Family Foundation and member of the Board of Directors of the Hessian Knighthood in Kaufungen.
